Motorola Solutions Deploys OZC Public Safety Solution

Overview:

A major theme park initiated a major upgrade of its wireless communication infrastructure in 2019. The project was put on hold during the pandemic lockdown but has started up again now that the park has re-opened.

A major part of the upgrade is the replacement of the old Public Safety DAS in each of 16 areas of the park with a new Solid DAS. Each DAS supports Public Safety 700MHz and 800MHz along with the park’s private 900MHz service.

Challenges:

• Limited rack space
• Minimize fiber count
• Include data connection to each site

Solution:

These services originate at the park’s main communication hub. They are to be distributed to each of the 16 DAS over Optical Zonu’s ZONUConnect RF over Fiber Transport. Each of the 16 links supports all the RF services along with a 1 Gb Ethernet link over a single fiber. This permits monitoring and control of both the fiber transport and each DAS from the central hub. Each of the transport units is a 1 RU rack mounted unit. The compact size permits installation of the entire system in the limited rack space available.

Two of the Public Safety DAS and transport connectivity were completed before the lockdown. The remaining sites are now underway and are targeted for completion before the end of 2021.
