Production Floor Supervisor (electronics and fiber optics)
This role is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the production floor specializing in electronics and fiber optic manufacturing. The supervisor will lead, motivate, and manage a team of production staff, ensuring the timely and high-quality fabrication, assembly, programing and testing of products.
Key responsibilities
- Supervision and Training: Lead, monitor, and manage production teams, including assembly, testing, and other related departments. This includes improving & developing and delivering training programs for new and existing employees, particularly for specialized tasks like fiber optic splicing.
- Production Planning & Execution: Plan and schedule daily tasks to meet production goals and objectives. Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards, optimizing workflow and processes for efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Cooperate with quality control (QC) throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring products meet specifications and supporting activities like first article inspections.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve production and personnel issues as they arise, performing root cause analysis on production fallouts.
- Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce safety and compliance protocols, including cleanroom standards and the use of personal protective equipment. Ensure a safe and accident-free work environment.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate production documentation. Prepare and maintain work records and reports, submitting reports on productivity and progress.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other supervisors and departments, including engineering, quality control, and human resources, to ensure smooth communication, efficient workflows, and resolve production and personnel issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in production processes, suggesting and implementing initiatives like lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts.
Required skills and qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience managing teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting, preferred. Experience in electronics manufacturing or a related field is required.
- Technical Skills: A solid understanding of electronics and fiber optics, including installation, splicing, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with diagnostic testing equipment and process management systems.
- Leadership and Management: Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Experience with employee coaching, development, and performance assessment.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to clearly present information and answer questions from managers, customers, and employees.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred. Relevant technical certifications like FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician or OSHA standards can be beneficial.

- Proficiency using Microsoft products (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access ).
- Understanding and experience working with root cause problem-solving methodologies.

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Electronics RF Technician. You will be a proactive, hands-on team player responsible for testing, tuning, and troubleshooting complex digital, analog, and RF circuitry down to the component level. Working in a laboratory environment, you will assemble and validate optical components—including lasers and photodiodes—while supporting Engineering in root cause analysis and new product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the production line by performing electronic testing on units, sub-assemblies, and customer returns (RMAs).
- Operate complex test equipment including Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Network Analyzers.
- Test, tune, and troubleshoot RF Optical Fiber units, isolating technical issues to the specific component level.
- Develop and modify manufacturing test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Perform precision rework, soldering, and assembly of optical components such as fiber cables, lasers, and photodiodes.
- Conduct Environmental/ESS testing (spanning -40C to 80C) and meticulously log data for analysis.
- Provide technical assistance to Engineering for out-of-box failures and help set up or modify new product test stations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong foundational knowledge of Electrical/Electronics principles and RF circuitry.
- Proven experience troubleshooting digital and analog systems to the component level.
- Ability to operate high-level test equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.) and understand intermodulation/noise measurements.
- Experience working under microscopes with small, sensitive electronic components.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with computers and basic data collection procedures.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (verification required; no visa sponsorship).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior professional experience specifically in Fiber Optic systems and assembly.
- Hands-on skills in optical fiber splicing (straight and lossy splices).
