Position / Title:                      RFoF Technical Sales Support Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Optical Zonu Corporation http://www.opticalzonu.com  was founded in 2003, Optical Zonu Corporation manufactures a wide range of digital and analog RF-Over-Fiber products. The company is owned by management and invests (almost) all its profit into R&D.

Serving both commercial and government applications we are continuously innovating and developing solutions for wired and wireless networks, satellite and telemetry/tracking earth stations, broadcast and Public Safety networks.

Optical Zonu is the only provider approved for sales to all 3 cellular providers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile).  Our fast-track product development ensures on time delivery of reliable, cost-effective standard products as well as custom solutions to meet our client’s needs. Optical Zonu provides full design and support along with on-site deployment services

We are seeking an individual with RF Engineering technical competence with experience and knowledge of the cellular carriers (Verizon, AT&T, TMobile), cellular infrastructure, DAS and if there is Public Safety knowledge that is a plus.  Our preference is that this position will work out of our Los Angeles Area office.

The Technical Sales Support Engineer supports (technology, product, system) our Sales team in all aspects of the sales cycle from prospecting through post-sale installation and commissioning. Initial focus is on the US market, but this role will also help define global sales growth targets and execution. Supporting sales growth includes establishing and maintaining relationships with customers, developing system design proposals, customer training, on- and off-site installation, commissioning, and post-sales support.  This position may also generate and host sales presentations and product training sessions, will participate in tradeshows, developing marketing materials, datasheets, spec sheets, blog, social media and other web content. This strategic position reports to the VP of Sales and Marketing.

The Technical Sales Support Engineer will also spend a lessor portion of their time providing technical sales support for Optical Zonu’s RF-Over-Fiber Satcom, Fiber Transport and Wi-Fi DAS products.

 Responsibilities:

Cellular Wireless infra-structure

  • Supporting Sales Engineers, Prospecting and maintaining customers in the US cellular market for Optical Zonu’s ZONUConnect Fiber Transport and GPS over fiber products.
  • Develop sales channels to maximize Optical Zonu’s awareness of and participation in any relevant project bid.
  • Provide regular product training and support to US carriers’ market DAS engineers as well as engineering services companies supporting US carriers’ DAS designs & deployments
  • Support as needed any remaining activities needed to complete carrier approvals
  • Provide the customer all needed bid support including system designs (e.g. iBwave), rack elevation drawings, power usage and Bills of Material for Optical Zonu products. Provide on-site support for system installation and commissioning as well as post-sales system troubleshooting.

 Wi-Fi DAS

  • Support customer adaptation of product architecture
  • Support the Integration partner(s) to scope opportunities and follow-up all the processes till final sale.
  • Identify new customer strategies: partners, GSA schedule

 General

  • Present Optical Zonu product portfolio as well as competing technologies to accurately depict competitive advantages
  • Ability to present and guide customers through technical content
  • Represent the company and its brand professionally to customers, business partners and other employees
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from customers or internally with utmost urgency
  • Travel to customers to maintain strong personal relationships
  • Provide needed information to maintain an accurate rolling forecast and long-term projections
  • Provide competitive intelligence on products, pricing, customer expectations and markets
  • Develop and implement sales plan and revenue forecasts and maintain an accurate rolling forecast and long-term projections
  • Know sales history to date, primary customers
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from customers or internally
  • Respond quickly to technical support requests
  • Maintain up-to-date and complete records of customer interactions and project status utilizing CRM
  • Strategic account management and development to support long term revenue growth
  • Initiate calls to existing and potential new customers
  • Provide market and customer call information to relevant internal parties
  • Provide input for targeted marketing efforts, PR campaigns, industry specific trade shows etc.
  • Build customer relationships at all levels
  • This position is located at our office in Van Nuys, unless travel to customers or other travel per company request is required

Day-to-day tasks are likely to involve:

  • Working with and supporting Sales Engineers to develop System Solutions, ibWave Drawings, Block Diagrams, and system architectures.
  • Searching for new clients who can benefit from your products in a designated region
  • Establishing new, and maintaining your existing, relationships with customers
  • Calling, Videoconferencing and travelling to visit potential clients
  • Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs
  • Managing and interpreting customer requests and requirements
  • Persuading clients that an OZC product or system will best satisfy their needs
  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Calculating client budgetary quotations
  • Negotiating and closing sales
  • Offering after-sales support services
  • Meeting regular sales targets
  • Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts
  • Recording and maintaining client contact data in Company CRM
  • Supporting marketing by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Demonstrate agility, critical thinking, responsibility and follow through.

    Physical Demands
  • At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).

    Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in RF Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years with a cellular carrier, integrator, engineering firm or other related RFoF Engineering experience.

Work Environment

  • Internal office space
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM (40-hour work week)
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time due to travel, deadlines, rush or other projects

 Compensation:

  • Base salary range dependent on experience $100,000 – $120,000
  • Plus, a generous commission program
  • Total compensation combined base plus commission can reach $140,000 – $160,000 yr+

We are seeking an individual that is hungry and loves to sell, with apptitude to technical learning and/or wireless technologies experience.

Primary focus will be selling our solutions to the commercial wireless carriers Verizon,
T-Mobile, and AT&T along with their engineering service companies, neutral host companies, integrators and the Public Safety Wireless markets. Your working knowledge of the cellular carriers, cellular infrastructure and DAS, is a plus.

The Salesperson generates leads and supports the complete sales cycle from prospecting through post-sales.
