Optical Zonu Corp, a Los Angeles-based designer and manufacturer of Fiber Optic Components and Go!Foton, a global photonics company with a strong presence in the optical communications industry, have teamed up to provide a cost-effective, stealth GPS over Fiber solution to connect an Enterprise eFemto or Small Cell to the GPS antenna needed for sync. In enterprise installations, the eFemto is often installed far from the location of the GPS antenna – too far for a coaxial cable connection. In addition, the facility generally requires that any cables needed are not visible inside the building.

Optical Zonu’s GPS Extender consists of two very compact units that can be easily hidden to convert the GPS to optical and back to GPS. The GPS Extender Antenna Unit connects to the GPS antenna puck while the Base Unit connects to the eFemto. Go!Foton’s FiberFast then provides the fiber optic connection between these two units resulting in a nearly invisible installation. The FiberFast fiber comes with all the mounting components needed for a quick and easy installation. And the GPS Extender provides the connection with no adjustments needed. In addition, using Optical Zonu’s compact, handheld SkyShot GPS Tester, an appropriate location for the GPS antenna can be identified quickly.

GPS connection on the first try.
